Neither did I. [Lu Meng has to admit.] We do not celebrate individual birthdays in my homeland. Our new year marks everyone's birthday, so to speak.

[Gift-giving in general is hard. Finding the perfect present is always difficult, and the challenge is compounded when you consider all the numerous taboos there are in his culture towards gifts depending on the season and occasion.

Still, the thought of the perfect gift for Alvin gets him thinking, and he lets out a thoughtful hum.]

...how about a photo album of his friends and family here spending time together? We could compile the photos and include short notes from each of them to him, speaking of their wishes for him and their feelings towards him in general.

But not knowing what to buy for a birthday can be different from knowing a person's hopes and fears and thoughts, and if Presa is the woman he's in love with, then he thinks that would mean that Alvin's at least opened up to her a few times.]

It makes Presa thankfully that she cares little for birthdays, her own included. But this is Alvin and he's a special case. Got to make sure that he has a nice birthday for once. ]

That might not be such a bad idea. [ Because both of them know how much Alvin doubts people in the sense that he's a good friend or person. ] Everyone is able to pitch in that way and there's no real need to stress for others to find him a gift.
