[ Herp derp, he's prevented her from closing the closet door! Sanae pouts, looking up at him as he blocks her from carrying out her brilliant lesson plan of the day. ] First of all, it's key board, not keysboard.
[ A huff. ] And second of all, this is for your own benefit to learn!
What if there is an emergency, and I need to contact you quickly! What if you're in a pickle, and you need to contact someone for help! Believe it or not, in this day-and-age cell phone mastery is a coveted skill!
[Sanae used pout! It's Not Very Effective. That scowl on his face and the hand on the door aren't budging one bit.]
Then sit at your table. I shall bring my phone down and we'll complete this exercise out here in the open, not hiding in cupboards and closets like children.
[ ......Like children. Oof, that hurts. But even if Sanae isn't a child anymore, she still retains some of those youthful whims to make things fun.
She tries one more time: ] --But... experience! You learn and memorize better through experience, not just talking things through! We have to recreate the setting! [ Attempts to pull. in. the door--! ]
[She might as well try to pull the closet out of the wall. That door isn't going anywhere.
Even without his memories, the authority of his old rank in the army rises up from the lost pits of his unknown history, momentarily throwing off the shackles of amnesia.]
Lady Kochiya, enough.
[One finger points at back at the chair she'd been sitting on while she was practicing her flower arranging.]
If we are to do this, we do this properly. No foolish games. Understood?
--U...understood! [ She snaps up straight at such a stern order.
Scary, scary....
Sanae moves out of the closet, making her way to the low table. She brings out her cell phone from her pocket, setting it upon the surface.] Let's... um, get started... [ She adds timidly, unlocking her phone screen. ]
[He gives her a stern nod as she creeps by him back to her seat. With that done he closes the door shut behind them with a tidy click.]
I shall retrieve my phone from my room.
[And he's back soon enough with the new gadget in his hands. Taking a seat opposite to her, he switches on the phone (probably explains why he hadn't noticed her earlier message) and waits for the blue glow of his phone's home page.
Once the phone's properly switched on, he uses his thumb to tap on the text icon, just like how she had taught him earlier. With barely any pomp and circumstances, he types out a short message (slowly, because he's still new!!) and presses sent.
With an unimpressed look he places his phone back on the table. Sure enough Sanae's phone gives out a cheery blip, signalling that she's received the long-awaited message!]
[ And as she waits those few precious seconds as he turns on his phone and enters the message, all Sanae can think about is his mood! He must be aaaaaangry at her. Usually he's always hovering nearby one way or another, there's no way he'd be gone for more than ninety minutes if he could help it. So whatever he was doing during that time, it must have been important!
Or.
Or maybe he was napping. No one likes to be woken up from a nap. Maybe he just need more nap time, because that could help with any crankiness. She should apologize, he looks so disappointed and cross with her-- ]
[ It's okay, it's okay, Sanae. He's just a beginner. He just needs to be taught! ] Maybe for an emergency, but what if it's just casual texting?
[ Okay, maybe it does. But he needs-- ] --You're going to need more for that! When you text someone with a "good day" you need to convey the mood properly, too! Like--
[Wow, all that from just a few taps? These must be part of the "short-cuts" she'd tried to teach him earlier.
Still, not impressed.]
If written words were good enough for my time, then they'll be good enough for yours. There's hardly any need for all these unnecessary embellishments.
[Squints.]
What on earth are they anyway? I see a comma, a full stop, open and close brackets around two arrows pointing at each other, an asterisk and a star.
Dun-dun! [ She makes a noise to signal that he's getting it wrong again! ] Look again!
The open and closed brackets form the sides of the face. The two arrows pointing in at each other are eyes. The first face is throwing out a star and sparkles to you through the text! The second face is raises her arms up in the air because she's excited to be talking!
These are just two faces you can make. But there are over ten thousand of them you can rearrange and customize and-- and make any emotion you can ever think of....!
[And his thumb goes over to the built-in draw app on his phone. One circle, two dots and a flat line for a mouth later, and he saves the image and uploads it to Sanae in his next text to her.]
Now I'm not an artist, but I know that's how it should look like. None of these star and sparkles nonsense.
[Funny how the face looks like it's carrying the exact same expression that he's wearing right now, huh?
[ She doesn't know whether to praise him for knowing how to send an image through a text message or to correct him on how it is important to have emoticons! ] Mm-mm. you have to lean how to text these faces. But even if you want to draw them, they should be like--
[ She's going to take that same image, and then using her image editor, she adds more sparkles to it. And turns the flat line of the mouth into a smile. After this is done, she sends it back to him. ] That.

That's not a face. A drawn face looks like this.
